چکیده

The discovery of stable and broad frequency combs in monochromatically pumped high-Q optical Kerr microresonators caused by the generation temporal solitons can be regarded as one major breakthroughs nonlinear optics during last two decades. transfer soliton–comb concept to χ(2) promises lowering pump power, new operation regimes, entering spectral ranges; scientifically, it is a big challenge. Here we represent an overview accessible regimes discovered several years. main stress made on lithium niobate-based resonators. This pretends rather simple, complete, comprehensive: incorporates factors affecting generation, such choice pumping scheme (pumping first or second harmonic), phase matching (natural artificial), effects walk off dispersion coefficients, also influence detunings Q-factors. Most are self-starting—they accessed from noise upon not very abrupt increase power. scenarios universal—they realized only under proper combinations above-mentioned factors. We indicate what kind restrictions experimental conditions have imposed obtain generation.

Modeling pattern formation and cavity solitons in quantum dot optical microresonators in absorbing and amplifying regimes.

We present a complete overview of our investigation past and present of the modelization and study of the spatiotemporal dynamics of a coherent field emitted by a semiconductor microcavity based on self-assembled quantum dots. The modelistic approach is discussed in relation to prospective growth and experimental research, and the model is then applied to resonators for which the medium is eith...

Self-sustained gigahertz electronic oscillations in ultrahigh- Q photonic microresonators

We report on theoretical and experimental observations of self-sustained fast [gigahertz (GHz)] electronic oscillations resulting from coupled electron-photon dynamics in ultrahigh-Q Si microdisk resonators with cw pumping. Our theoretical analysis identifies conditions for generating steady-state GHz oscillations while suppressing thermal oscillations [megahertz (MHz)] with submilliwatt input ...

Convexity of quantum χ2-divergence.

The general quantum χ(2)-divergence has recently been introduced by Temme et al. [Temme K, Kastoryano M, Ruskai M, Wolf M, Verstrate F (2010) J Math Phys 51:122201] and applied to quantum channels (quantum Markov processes). The quantum χ(2)-divergence is not unique, as opposed to the classical χ(2)-divergence, but depends on the choice of quantum statistics. It was noticed that the elements in...

Self-assembled conjugated polymer spheres as fluorescent microresonators

Confinement of light inside an active medium cavity can amplify emission. Whispering gallery mode (WGM) is one of mechanisms that amplifies light effectively by confining it inside high-refractive-index microstructures, where light propagates along the circumference of a sphere via total internal reflection. Here we show that isolated single microspheres of 2-10 μm diameter, formed from self-as...

Self-starting low-noise fiber soliton laser.

We report a self-starting passively mode-locked soliton source generating 1-ps-wide pulses. The laser is configured as a ring with an erbium-doped fiber gain medium, a length of conventional fiber that provides the required dispersion and Kerr nonlinearity, and an intracavity multiple-quantum-well optical amplifier that serves as a saturable absorber and pulse stabilizer. The laser exhibits low...
